ABOUT
I am, first and foremost, a social scientist and anthropologist, deeply rooted in the principles of socio-cultural anthropology. My work is necessarily grounded in a profound respect for the diversity of human experiences and the intricate ways in which individuals and communities make meaning of the world around them. Cultural anthropology teaches us to value context, interpret systems of understanding and practice, and recognize the interconnectedness of people, their environments, and the structures they navigate. These foundational perspectives shape how I approach every professional endeavor, ensuring that my work is informed by a holistic and empathetic lens.
Early in my career, I lived and worked internationally as an ethnographer exploring the social and political intersections of human-environmental relationships, organizational development, conservation program design, and science and technology studies. My research delved into the complex dynamics between state actors, non-profits, communities, stakeholders, wildlife, and native landscapes. That work shaped my understanding of how diverse entities collaborate, conflict, and co-create solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges. This work honed my ability to navigate complex systems, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and uncover insights that inform sustainable and equitable outcomes.
My training as a social scientist made for a natural transition into the technology research sector. Here, I have conducted research and developed opportunities that prioritize not only the end-user—a critical focus of any design process—but also the broader ecosystem in which products and services are created. By examining how teams function, how products are built, and where processes can be optimized, I seek to elevate approaches that foster the development of truly human-centered technologies and experiences. This integrative perspective ensures that the technologies we create not only meet user needs but also reflect the values, systems, and practices that enable inclusive and meaningful innovation.
Currently based in the United States.
